Philip Shafer

Philip Shafer was born in Ohio and raised in La Jolla, California. His diverse career includes naval officer, commercial helicopter pilot, history teacher, planning consultant, campaign manager, government bureaucrat, and corporate officer. Of curious interest, Shafer is a California certified Smoke Reader, and for several years wrote the crossword puzzle for a newspaper.

After a history, a book on seismic safety, and several geothermal technical articles, Philip Shafer began writing romance-thriller novels. My Own Back Yard Publishing (MOBY) in Forestville has published nine novels for Shafer. Three of those have been San Diego Book Award Finalists. A fourth, Shepherd's Secrets, won their award for best romance in 2012.

The loss of key staff for MOBY brought Philip Shafer into the publication process. He recently became owner of MOBY Publications. Somersault, an anthology under MOBY's imprint, Ingly Publications, has been surprisingly successful. Philip has traveled widely in the Far East and extensively in France. He lives in the beach community of San Diego. He can be found on-line as authorphilipshafer and at mobybookpub.com.
