Bringing Your Scene to Lifeby Lucy Sanna |

If your writing doesn’t keep you up, it won’t keep your readers up.
To engage your readers, every scene must increase tension and compel your story toward a surprising yet inevitable end. A poor scene simply records what happens, moving the narrative down the track like a slow freight train. A compelling scene is all about conflict--internal or external. A compelling scene reveals character through thought, dialogue, gesture and response to sensual detail. Someone wins and someone loses. Something changes, even if it's internal to a character. In this hands-on workshop, Lucy Sanna incorporates exercises to guide participants in creating convincing scenes that reveal character and propel the story forward. Be prepared to participate in written exercises. |
