Bringing Your Scene to Life

by

Lucy Sanna

If your writing doesn’t keep you up, it won’t keep your readers up.
To engage your readers, every scene must increase tension and compel your story toward a surprising yet inevitable end. A poor scene simply records what happens, moving the narrative down the track like a slow freight train. A compelling scene is all about conflict--internal or external. A compelling scene reveals character through thought, dialogue, gesture and response to sensual detail. Someone wins and someone loses. Something changes, even if it's internal to a character.

In this hands-on workshop, Lucy Sanna incorporates exercises to guide participants in creating convincing scenes that reveal character and propel the story forward. Be prepared to participate in written exercises.
